Belgian Journal of Military History (BJMH)

The Belgian Journal of Military History, founded almost a century ago, is now also available in an online version, just like our British colleagues do with the British Journal of Military History, the Fondation Napoléon with Napoleonica or Virgilio Ilari with his Antologia Militare.

Today, the Royal Society of the Friends of the Military Museum (SRAMA-KVVL) relaunches the publication of the Belgian Journal of Military History. It was published in 2001 by the Royal Military Museum as Cahiers belges d’histoire militaire and has its origins in the Carnets de la Fourragère, published by SRAMA-KVVL under the direction of Louis Leconte, Albert Duchesne and Jean Lorette as of 1924.

The WHI and the History Department of the Royal Military Academy are the main disseminators of research in the field of military history in Belgium.

This scientific journal with ‘peer review’ strives for versatility and multilingualism. Various articles on military history in the broad sense will be included and both Belgian and European scientists will be able to contribute.

Publication will initially be on an annual basis, with summaries on the internet in parallel. The journal will be distributed among SRAMA-KVVL members and, like the publications that preceded it, be a valuable tool for universities, as well as a source of information for anyone interested in military history.
